WWW CANCELLED – Regrettably WWW 2020 is unable to go ahead due to Welsh Government Covid-19 restrictions.

WWW 2020 – Latest information from the organisers

WICKED WELSH WEEKEND 2020 – CANCELLATION (11Aug20)

It is with regret that we announce the cancellation of this year’s WWW event. As we have mentioned in previous announcements, we could only proceed within the Welsh Government’s Covid-19 restrictions. Although many restrictions have been relaxed, there is still in place a limit of 30 people who can meet in an organised event outdoors in Wales. (Welsh Government regularly communicates its plans to lift restrictions several weeks in advance. Unfortunately, there is no sign of this restriction being lifted within the next few weeks) The Imp Club directors cannot therefore allow us to proceed with the event. In addition, the Club’s liability insurance would be void and there would be no cover for any damage or accidents.

We have left this decision as late as possible, however the fast-approaching date for payment of balances on the static caravans, and with no real prospect of the group limit being raised sufficiently to the numbers expected to attend, has now left us with no alternative but to cancel.

We have agreed with the caravan park that people who have booked static caravans can transfer their booking to next year’s event (Fri 17 – Sun 19th Sep). If you have a booking with the park for the event, please contact them 01874 658226 or email – holidays@llangorselake.co.uk immediately to confirm your intentions as they wish to re-let the caravans and camping pitches. We will also email those who have notified us of their attendance.

Wicked Welsh Weekend 2020 – 18-21 September 2020. Update (03Aug20)

Everything is now in place to hold this event so (unless, of course, a worsening Coronavirus situation changes the rules) we plan to go ahead. We must all, of course, obey the Welsh Government rules in place at the time of the event. People disobeying the rules may be required to leave the site.

There will be the usual runs on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday and ‘Show & Shine’ on Sunday morning.

We also plan to hold a quiz of some sort but unfortunately will NOT be holding the Naffle (the WWW interpretation of a raffle) this year.

The Lakeside campsite is fully open. Campers will be pleased to know that showers on the campsite will be free this year.  Both the Lakeside café and pub are open – at the moment they only provide meals and drinks outside (they both have ‘event shelters’ in place). Indoor dining in pubs & cafes in Wales is allowed (subject to being Covid-19 regulations compliant) from early August.  For details of the up-to-date café & pub situation please see https://www.facebook.com/LakeCafeLlangorse/ and https://en-gb.facebook.com/BestBarInLlangorse/. The café can now accept (and will probably prefer) card payments. Unless a miracle occurs we will NOT be able to hold the usual ‘packed house’ social evenings so please be prepared to socialise in small socially distanced groups outdoors.

Since there is no September issue of Impressions further updates will only appear on the Forum & Facebook. Details of any important developments will also be sent to people who have contacted us directly by email, Forum, Facebook, or telephone to say they are attending WWW.  If you do want to attend and haven’t already contacted us PLEASE let us know – if we don’t know how many people plan to attend it makes it even harder to organise the event, we don’t know how many route booklets to print, and it will be totally impossible to keep everyone informed at short notice in the event of changes.  If emailing please use the dedicated email address:

N.B. Actual campsite bookings will still need to be made with the Llangorse Lakeside campsite – see below.

Wicked Welsh Weekend – General Information

About the event

Crossing the Newport Transporter Bridge – 2013

The Wicked Welsh Weekend (WWW) has been an annual fixture (normally held on the 3rd weekend in September) on the Imp Club Calendar since 1999. It started as a small gathering organised by Neil & Tina at the Rising Sun pub & campsite in Pandy (just outside Abergavenny) and has grown over the years into a 3 day ‘long weekend’ featuring scenic runs, evening get-togethers (including the infamous ‘Naffle’ – a wicked welsh interpretation of a raffle) and meals, and an informal ‘Show & Shine’.

In 2017 Neil & Tina asked other members of the South & West Wales Area Centre to take over the organisation and the year after that WWW moved from the Rising Sun to the Lakeside Caravan & Camping site at Llangorse (near Brecon) although the format of WWW remains essentially unchanged. The Llangorse site provides excellent camping facilities as well as a number of static caravans for hire. There is also a good selection of B&B accommodation nearby.

Big Pit – Blaenavon – 2014

WWW 2020

NB Due to the coronavirus epidemic it has not yet been confirmed that the 2020 event will go ahead. Confirmation or cancellation of this event will be posted as soon as possible.

Message from the organisers:

The 2020 event is due to be held at the Llangorse Lakeside campsite (www.llangorselake.co.uk) in the Brecon Beacons from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September 2020. The 10 static caravans (4 berth & 6 berth) reserved for our exclusive use have already been booked. Because of the lower number of people camping in 2019 (although overall attendance was much the same as previously), the organisers have reserved the Orchard (18 pitches with EHU plus 1 without) for camping rather than the larger Ernie’s Field.

Coronavirus Information. If this event does take place then in order to comply with ‘social distancing’ or other regulations imposed by the Welsh Government the format may well be quite a bit different from usual. This is likely to apply particularly to the meal arrangements and the social side of the event.
