Thursday 4 June
A few early arrivers setup this evening after a wet drive down the A303. The weather forecast is not the best for the weekend but that’s not deterring us from enjoying this outing.

Warren’s Imp has never travelled this far for a single journey, but stands proudly in the evening sunshine at the campsite after a steady drive.

Friday 5 June
With several more Imps arriving today we took a tour around the campsite and Park facilities. Lou, the organiser, has provided a welcome pack, sticker and a promise that the lovely area here will be suitably blessed with good weather. We hope so!
This evening we are having a Fish ‘n Chips supper and Quiz Night.

It’s nice to see two Clans together too.
Saturday 6 June
That was a wet and blustery night and the weather forecast is poor for today. 40+ MPH winds are expected. We have postponed this mornings tour out pending better weather later.

Lou’s Mk I Delux Imp pinged a doughnut bolt this morning during a shopping run. Fortunately she managed to l-Imp back to camp.
With a replacement bolt found, Tim worked his magic in the rain.

We are now down at the Lodge for scrumptious cake and hot drinks. A few rounds of pool: laughs and fluke shots made up for a lack of skill.

With ‘Imp’roving weather we lined up ahead of a short tour out to Bude. The longer tour is now planned for tomorrow afternoon.

12 miles run out this afternoon took us through some seriously narrow lanes.
From down in Coombe Valley, the drive up the 1 in 6 gradient of Duck Pool Hill took us past the very secret (no photography permitted) GCHQ base with the array of large satellite dishes, and then down into Bude via Kilkhampon. Around the one-way shopping streets of Bude, the convoy of cars certainly made an Imp-ression!
We moved on to Widemouth Manor Restaurant for an “all you can eat for a tenna” feast. Excellent value and great views over the coast.

Bingo! After the fun we had with the quiz night last night, the game this evening of Bingo didn’t sound as gripping but, without doubt the air of competition and tension was palpable.
“I remember those days” one Imper commented.
The bingo caller kept the mood light and the prizes coming as the Impers claimed Bingo! and House! time after time.
Sunday 7 June
Our Classic Car Show launched this morning at 10am with some lovely additional classics joining in. Several locals from Bude visited with their cars and others for a look around.

Sunday lunch at the Preston Gate Inn, very near to the base camp, has been scrumptious. The pub team were not phased by the booking of 25 of us. We don’t have long to rest, though, as next is planned our tour out this afternoon.

Next up is our postponed tour out. The target was Boscastle, the location of a horrendous flood in 2004. We do like a lineup but look – no cars!

After a good wander around Boscastle, and some ice creams of course, we returned back to the camp site via some very seriously steep coastal hill climbs.

The hamlet of Millook Haven is at the end of a deep coastal valley here and is, as we found, not easily accessible.

These narrow lanes through Crackington Haven, Poundstock and Widmouth Bay are tortuous and drivers need a certain driving style to get up the hills and safely descend in to the valleys.
All cars managed to complete the route. Brakes warmed up a bit for sure, but the drive out was very much enjoyed.

Well there we are, we draw close to the end of another great Imp Club event, here in Cornwall for the Full English this year.
This evening, those staying tonight have enjoyed some more time chatting in the Yard Bar. Live country music too. The Bar staff, with Amy on the Quiz Night mic and looking after us in the Yard Bar, have been a first class team.

Lou deserves a special mention here as she has done all the planning, bookings, arrangements, leading tours and checking in with everyone during the weekend.
She is a star, thank you, Lou, for your enthusiasm and all your work to make this lovely weekend a success.
Monday 8 June
And that concludes the 2026 Full English event. All packed up and the site cleared. Long drives for some, others will be home soon. See you soon at the National maybe.

The Full English – General Information
The Full English is the newest of the Imp Club’s annual and bi-annual events, its inaugaral get-together was in 2017. Scotland had Imp Ecosse, Wales had Wicked Welsh Weekend and Ireland had The Irish Experience so the time seemed right to create an English event, hence The Full English was born. To give it its title from its own Facebook group: ” The Imp clubs Full English. Cream then Jam Edition. ”
In 2017 it was held at Mollingon in Warwickshire but the event has now settled into what appears to be its ‘permanent’ home at Molland in Devon. It is a very relaxed weekend taking place from Friday to Sunday over a weekend during May or June. The venues used so far have been camp sites with permanent caravans or similar with space for motorhomes and tents. Each venue has provided a couple of on-site cottages and plenty of bed and breakfast accommodation in the close vicinity for those who are not keen on getting back to basics. Breakfast (Full English!) and evening meals are arranged for those who wish to fully embrace the experience. The evening meals vary from pub grub to ‘fish and chip’ runs. Activities are varied from organised runs to games evenings. You can choose either to join the runs as part of a convoy or at your own pace, whichever way you choose the comprehensive written instructions give you an excellent chance to explore the local area.
There may only have been three Full English events so far but it is rapidly becoming a ‘must do’ in the Imp calendar. All three events so far have been organised by two of the Imp Club’s keen Devon members.
2017 included a visit to the Cotswold Motor Museum, 2018 saw the Impers having fun at Diggerland and 2019 included a visit to a Cider factory. Definitely something for everyone!
