Heart of England Retro & Classic Vehicle Show

Fortnightly throughout the summer this classic vehicle meet takes place, weather permitting, on alternate Thursdays from around 3pm until dark. Tap here to see future dates and details.

Dave’s Van, Antoni’s Stiletto & Jeff’s Saloon

In the week that the Imp celebrated its 63rd birthday 3 Imps were on display, a saloon, a stiletto and van. Antoni brought along his late Father’s Stiletto. Richard owned a rare semi-automatic transmission made in France by Ferodo which he had never got round to putting in his own car. In recent months Antoni has been busy fitting it to Richard’s Stiletto and he drove it over to this meet – an interesting project. He is very IMPressed with it and reckons it would have made a very successful production vehicle. Let’s hope Antoni is able to take the car to a few more events.

Birmingham Area Centre

Sammy with friends at the recent Birmingham Area Centre Meet

A quick follow up from the birthday celebrations of a few months ago, Sammy’s return to health proved to be a little more challenging than expected – isn’t that always the way? With a lot of help from local area centre members we can report that Charlotte is now back behind the wheel and ready to show Sammy off at local shows and, of course, at this year’s National.

Engine out!

As is often the case getting Sammy back up and running was an ‘engine out’ job – after his long ‘sleep’ in the garage his clutch was totally seized. His brakes were also in definite need of attention. There were replacement parts to source including a starter motor which was found at the most recent NEC show.

Looking smart and cared for again!

If you’re struggling to get your pride and joy back on the road, why not visit your local area centre? Meeting like-minded Impers will not only feed your enthusiasm but is the ‘the’ place to visit to get valuable advice.

Birmingham & Coventry Areas Celebrate!

To help celebrate Charlotte’s birthday a few members from the Birmingham and Coventry area centres met up for lunch at a local carvery. Coventry area no longer has regular meetings so it was especially welcome to get together with other Imp enthusiasts. Alongside excessive eating there was much Imp conversation! Plans are already underway to ensure that as many of us as possible, along with our Imps, make it to next year’s National event. Those helping Charlotte celebrate were Nicola, Pam, Lynda and the three Daves.

Dave A. was due to head over to Charlotte’s the next day to help her get Sammy up and running again, Sammy has spent far too long in his garage feeling a bit neglected so needs a bit of tlc. A new battery is already on charge, new plugs etc on order so Sammy’s return to full heath has begun…

As an aside – Charlotte looked extremely happy to finally get her hands on an unbroken Alfold mug, her original met with a somewhat untimely end before she even got it home from National – see photo!

NE Hampshire & NW Surrey’s Area

With Tim S and Warren B this month, Ken H and Sam W as usual attended. We welcomed two visitors this time too, Sam G and Daniel W, who joined us from their own Hampshire Area

Quite often one of us will bring along an Imp-related item or two as a “show and tell” feature. This evening Tim had a pile of old car magazines for us to trawl through.

It is fascinating to check out the old-fashioned adverts, articles and features written maybe 50+ years ago.

This one, the 1966 Autocar Magazine, has “for sale” listings which include several Imps for around £300 to £500. If only…..

We chatted, enjoyed a pub beverage, and talked about lots of topics including, of course, Imp things, for a few hours. We usually meet on the 4th Monday of the Month, at the Six Bells just east of Farnham around 7:30pm. Contact Tim or Warren for more details.
