Drive it Day 2026

Drive it Day 2026

Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire (and more!)
Drive it day for several Imp Club members from the Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and surrounding areas included a weekend camp at the National 2025 site near Alfold, Surrey.
Such a fantastic weekend – Imps galore and the weather to suit. Our WhatsApp chat group has been buzzing with happy comments since we have all arrived home safely. So what did we get up to then?

Friday 24 April
A few lead members set up camp in the field. Tim and family was joined by Warren for a campfire (well, a BBQ foil tray) evening. It was a cold evening for sure.

Saturday 25 April
A run-out today included a trip out to the Wings Aviation Museum, just south of Crawley, where we were provided with a private tour of many of the behind-the-scenes elements.

A little further on we visited the Ardingly Reservoir. Sat out looking over the water we enjoyed snacks and ice creams in the sun. The weather today has been shining on us and the roads, although slightly busy, provided us with fantastic driving experience for our Imps. The tour back followed a slightly different route to add variety, of course.

In the evening we descended upon the local pub, the Sun Inn, Dunsfold, where we had a “kneed” (is that the correct collective noun for a lot of pizzas?) of pizzas. The bar staff looked after us very well indeed.
Sunday 26 April – Drive it day!
At 10:30am on the dot (well, almost – you know what it’s like….) we began our tour out along the pre-planned route previously prepared for our National last year. Not all of us had done the route before. Thirteen Imps, of all colours and styles, made up the semi-convoy. We didn’t technically plan to stay together but for the most part we did. With a few re-routings and stops-to-check along the way, we ended up at a lovely country pub, the Dolphin (near Betchworth) for a longer stop.

Some of the group headed off from the pub, the others back to the campsite. Lots of fun was had by all. We were so lucky with the weather of course. And next year – 2027? Who knows. Watch out for news and join in if you are within range.
And as for other events this year – which included an Imp – do let us know.
