LWK 700F -- does it still exist ??

Postby alan c ramsay on Fri Apr 27, 2007 2:17 pm

I believe the ex-works rally car, LWK 700F, still exists.....could someone pass me the details of the current owner.

I am in contact with one of it's drivers from back in the day, and they would be very interested to know how it's getting on.

Please PM me, and we'll take it from there.

LWK 700 F was last used by the factory on the scottish in 1968 then bought by Robin Maunsell who very nearly won the TAP in 1970 outright in it. When Robin moved on to Avengers he gave it to Des O'Dell's son when it was repainted in dealer team colours; it eventually was found in Leicester (I think) and restored by Duncan Kirk in a somewhat unoriginal way (Duncan had previously restored EWK573C and sold it to Japan (I think). It was sold and at one stage ended up for sale again in Paul Matty sportscars. It was then bought by a club member who lives somewhere near Stevenage who also owns a Harper built Gp 2 Imp Sport - I'm sorry I don't know the gentleman's name but someone from that neck of the wrrds will I am sure. It appeared at Colin Malkin's funeral I am pretty sure.

Alan
Who is the driver you are in contact with, LWK is one of the cars I have very little info on until it got to Robin? Did he/she have it as a loan car or as part of the factory team or did they drive it after Robin gave it away?

I found pics of this car, I think on this site. So some one on the site must have it.

Ken Dunkley, that's the name of the guy who bought LWK from Paul Matty - at least I think it is. It's terrible what age does to your ability to extract information from the far reaches of the brain.
